Occupational Questionnaires

Questions and answers

Yes, you may use different scales within the same occupational questionnaire.  We recommend you group the questions using the same scales (for example, all the Yes/No questions are in the same area).  You will also need to take the differing scales into account when deriving the scores for each question (e.g., How many points you will give a Yes/No question as opposed to a response on a 1 to 5 scale?) and document your rationale.

For more information on occupational questionnaire rating scales, please refer to the Occupational Questionnaires PowerPoint at http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/assessment-and-selection/occupational-questionnaires/developing-occupational-questionaires.pdf
