There is a period between the training and the assessment that individuals should use to put into practice what they learned. Since operational experience is one important component of preparation for the DE assessment, individuals who have never been certified in DE are strongly encouraged to practice what was learned in training for at least 90 days on the job prior to taking the assessment. However, there is no required wait time between completing the training and taking the assessment. Completing 90 days of on-the-job training will put you in a stronger position to pass the assessment on your first try.
