When a manager determines that terminating an employee’s agreement is the appropriate action to take, there are a few things to consider:
- Terminations should be based on the provisions of the Telework Enhancement Act and, where discretion is possible, sound reasoning.
- Terminations should be fair, consistent, and equitable, making sure that decisions are transparent and supported by the Act and agency policy.
- Terminations should be in writing and timely.
- Terminations should be made in consultation with labor relations specialists and agency counsel, and in accordance with any applicable collective bargaining agreement.
