Nicholas E. Hoyle was appointed Assistant Inspector General for Management (AIGM) in February 2022. He is part of the management team responsible for directing the areas of information technology, financial management, and administrative management, to include human resources.

Mr. Hoyle began his Federal career in 2004 as an auditor with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG). In 2013, he was named Chief of the Information Systems Audits Group, where he managed teams responsible for overseeing the cybersecurity programs at U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and its contractors. In this role, he also managed a data analytics team that mined historical health insurance claims data to detect fraud waste and abuse. Mr. Hoyle was a key member of the OIG’s internal response team after the 2015 OPM data breaches, and his work was cited in multiple Congressional hearings related to this event.

In April 2018 Mr. Hoyle was appointed the Senior Executive Service, serving in the role of Deputy AIGM. In this position Mr. Hoyle oversaw a cloud migration and modernization of the OIG’s technical environment. He also played a critical role in developing a robust and independent procurement operation within the OIG’s office.

Mr. Hoyle has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems, both from Virginia Tech.
