Connecting Research and Policy • March 8–9, 2016
About the Summit
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM), in partnership with the School of Public Affairs at American University, will be holding the 2016 OPM Research Summit. This inaugural Research Summit will bring together academic researchers, federal policy makers, and some industry partners giving them the unique opportunity to exchange ideas and collaborate on research and analysis. The Research Summit will focus on six human capital areas in particular:
- Work/Life
- Benefits
- Performance Management
- Leadership
- Employee Focus (Employee Engagement and Satisfaction)
- Diversity/Inclusion
This will be an interactive Research Summit allowing participants to take part in critical conversations highlighting peer-reviewed research while discussing ways the Federal Government can better use data and research to address pressing policy issues within the six human capital areas.
The ultimate goal of the Summit is to produce a research agenda to guide future studies.
About the Focus Areas
Workgroup sessions will be held for each of the six focus areas highlighted at the Summit. Each focus area will have one workgroup session in the morning and one session in the afternoon, with each session scheduled for an hour and a half. Participants will be able to switch focus areas between sessions, and therefore an individual would have the potential to attend a maximum of four workgroup sessions.
Each focus area will have session leads from the academic community and from the federal community.
