Edit or Update Existing Website Content

Learn how to find, update, and request publish of existing website content.

How to Update Existing Content

  1. Find the page to edit in the content tree

Content within the CMS is organized according to the navigation hierarchy used on OPM.gov.

Using the Content left navigation (or tree), find the content section you want to edit. Navigate to your desired page by expanding nodes in the tree. Click on the page you’d like to edit.

  2. Update the desired content page

You can update the content or text formatting of the page by using the rich text editor. You may also add or edit links by clicking the Insert/Edit Link icon found in the toolbar.

Content Blocks are a library of custom layouts for formatted and/or interactive content. To access them, click on the "Content Blocks" option at the top, and choose the block style that best fits your content.

  3. Save and Preview your changes

When your edits are complete, select the “Save and preview” button. A new tab in the browser will populate to show what the page will look like with your edits. The bottom bar on the tab shows “preview mode” in blue.

  4. Request publish of your updates

When you are satisfied with your changes, select Request Publish at the bottom right of the page.

A comment is required. The comment should include details on what’s being approved for publishing or other notes for OC. Once you write a comment, the request publish button will become active.

    How to Schedule a Publish

After submitting your request, OC will review your changes. You will receive an email when your changes are approved and published on the website.
